custom bike frames - the measurements

Custom Stem Sizing

In order to get the most from your bike it should be designed with your body in mind. We will need the following measurements to accurately determine the right size frame for you. If you are in the area, we suggest you swing on down for some time on the sizing bike, or go by your friendly neighborhood bike shop and have them size you up. This is highly recommended for an accurate fit.

* Measurements should be taken using a cloth tape measure or careful use of the string and yardstick method, and should be rounded to the nearest 1/8" if possible.

Custom Frame Measurements:

A) Standing Height - Against a wall, shoes off with your heels against the wall and shoulder width apart.
B) Body Length - Stand as you did for "A" but this time measure from the floor to the top of your sternum, between your colar bones.
C) Shoulder Width - Stand up straight and meaure from the bones that make up the farthest points of the shoulder joints.
D) Arm Length - Hold arm out straight with fingers in line with forearm and measure the distance from the notch between thumb and forefinger to the bone on the outer edge of shoulder.
E) Thigh Length - Stand against a wall with your shoes off, heels touching the wall and feet together. Slide a book or other rectangular object up between our legs until it's against your butt and square against the wall. Measure from the top of the book to the bottom of kneecap.
F) Leg Length - Stand up straight next to a wall with your cycling shoes (or regular shoes if cycling shoes not available). Find the round, bony protrusion on the outside of your hip (your greater trochanter) and measure from there to the floor.
G) Inseam Length - Follow the same procedure as "E" but measure from the top of the book to the floor this time.
H) Shoe Size - We need the euro size (39, 42, etc.) of your shoes, half sizes if possible.
