Describe a memorable bike related moment?

I will always remember learning to ride off road in San Diego county and in particular at the Mission Hills trail system. One afternoon, I was snaking through the desert singletrack, you know the type with that thin layer sand rolling over sun baked hard pack, when suddenly my front wheel washes out. The next sequence is burned into my memory. I watch as my gloved hands start sliding on the trail, then I see a rock catch my left ring finger and rotate the upper digit ninety degrees at the big joint. After my fall ended, I dusted off, popped the finger back into place, and off I went. That’s mountain biking to me.
